Make learning an experience! Innovations on the National Education Portal

2024. 04. 19.

The National Education Portal welcomes students with rich digital content and a renewed offering. With over a hundred online versions of textbooks, tens of thousands of interactive exercises, 3D graphics, animations, playful learning solutions, and video clips, the portal of the Educational Authority aims to make children more motivated and successful in their learning endeavors.

The goal of the EU-funded flagship project called “Development of textbooks, teaching aids, and digital content in accordance with the content regulations of public education” was to establish a nationally uniform teaching aid system aligned with changes in the National Core Curriculum and the curriculum framework. Implemented between 2016 and 2023, the development ensured a significant portion of modern and accredited textbooks, as well as digital smart textbooks on the National Education Portal, for primary and secondary school students nationwide.

Initially, the project involved continued school testing of textbooks, based on practical experiences of their effectiveness and usability, followed by improvement, revision, and the creation of teacher support materials based on these experiences. Later on, they further developed the National Education Portal and ensured the provision of digital teaching content. To foster educational opportunity and provide fair education, modern teaching aids were also developed for students from different nationalities and those with special educational needs, covering the gaps in print textbooks.

For example, geography textbooks were supplemented with thematic maps, thematic maps, allowing for the study of climate change over recent years. Chemistry learning is supported by a periodic table application and gamified solutions. Additionally, a 6-part video clip series showcasing Hungary’s major landscapes was produced. Literature textbooks were accompanied by poems in musical forms and an app that suppors verse analysis.

The primary objective of the investment was to strengthen the compensatory capacity of the country’s public education system, thereby reducing the rate of early school leaving. By providing parallel access to online teaching materials alongside printed textbooks, the project significantly contributed to the digital competency development of students from grades 1 to 12 and teachers.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project EFOP-3.2.2-VEKOP-15-2016-00001 under the Human Resource Development Operational Program.
